Our Mission

Dr. Ann Ly is a neurologist and movement disorders specialist at an academic university whose career has centered on improving quality of life for neurodegenerative conditions. Her commitment to service, however, began long before medicine.

Growing up, Ann was deeply influenced by her parents' dedication to philanthropy and humanitarian work. It was through volunteer work at a hospital serving uninsured and unhoused individuals that she met her husband, Michael, who shared her passion for service and community engagement. 

While attending medical school in Dominica, Ann also became involved in local animal welfare efforts, including spay and neuter projects and providing temporary refuge for stray animals during hurricanes. 

Her passion for rescue work was further shaped by her own dogs, Simba and Caesar, who were adopted from Carson Animal Shelter and the Miami Humane Society. Through them, she experienced firsthand the transformative impact that stability, patience, medical care, and unconditional love can have on a shelter animal's life. 

The life she was fortunate to give them—and the joy they brought in return—became the inspiration for her ongoing work in animal welfare. 

Her vision is simple: that every shelter dog has the opportunity to experience the safety, dignity and love that Simba and Caesar found in their forever home. 

Ann hopes to honor that legacy by supporting both people and animals through sustainable community initiatives, advocacy, and acts of compassion.

Michael Fahmy serves as Chief Financial Officer of the FahmyLy Foundation, bringing a strong background in philanthropy, accounting, finance, law, and organizational leadership.

Michael’s commitment to service began while he was an undergraduate student volunteering at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. During his time there, he founded the Junior Society, a team of motivated students dedicated to raising funds and supporting an understaffed medical institution serving an underserved community. This early experience helped shape his belief in the importance of structured, mission-driven service.

Michael graduated from the University of California, San Diego at the age of 20. After completing his undergraduate studies, he pursued his interests in accounting and finance, earning his CPA license and founding FAHMIA, INC., a professional service corporation  created to support a broad range of established professionals, entrepreneurs, and companies. He passed all four sections of the CPA exam on his first attempt, distinguishing himself among accounting professionals.

While continuing to grow his accounting practice, Michael also pursued the study of law. Through disciplined self-study and a demanding professional schedule, he became a California-licensed attorney after passing the California Bar Examination on his first attempt during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has since grown and led his team into one of Southern California’s leading business and taxation law firms, serving clients throughout the United States and internationally.

As CFO of the FahmyLy Foundation, Michael hopes to apply his leadership experience, financial expertise, legal knowledge, and operational discipline to help bring organization, structure, and long-term sustainability to the Foundation’s mission. His goal is to support initiatives that aid shelter animals and socioeconomically disadvantaged individuals and communities.

In his spare time, Michael enjoys snowboarding, surfing, and traveling.
